Read Before Installing or Using HP C++ Version 7.1 for
Tru64 UNIX
Dear HP C++ Customer,
This release fixes several problems in earlier versions. No user
manuals have been changed; updated release notes are supplied with the
software kit.
Please take time to read the following information about your product.
Installation Information
Installing HP C++ for Tru64 UNIX requires the Tru64 UNIX
operating system Version 4.0D or higher.
The Tru64 UNIX Layered Products media consists of the following:
- Software Product Library CD-ROMs containing the installation kits
and related documentation in ASCII and PostScript formats.
- Online Documentation Library CD-ROMs containing documentation files
in HTML and other formats.
Contents of the Media CD-ROM
The Media CD-ROM contains the installation subset kit and the
HP C++ Installation Guide for Tru64 UNIX for installing this product and other layered products. The
Media CD-ROM device contains the following HP C++ files:

notes, and the Software Product Description (SPD) are provided as files

Release Notes Information
Before installing this release, please read the release notes for
HP C++ Version 7.1, particularly the section entitled,
"Important Compatibility Information." The release notes also
contain installation-related instructions and a summary of technical
changes, known problems, restrictions, and incompatibilities.
The release notes are contained in the following directory on the Media
CD-ROM:
After installation of HP C++ for Tru64 UNIX, the release notes for the compiler
are located in:
/usr/lib/cmplrs/cxx/V7.1-nnn/cxx71_release.txt

License Management Facility Information
A License Management Facility (LMF) Product Authorization Key (PAK)
must be registered and loaded before you can install HP C++
(cxx). For more information, see the HP C++ Installation Guide for Tru64 UNIX. For
information on reading the HP C++ documentation on the CD-ROM,
see the Software Product Library CD-ROM User's Guide.

Please read the Bill of
Materials (BOM) enclosed in this kit and check to see that all items
listed are actually in your kit. If your kit is damaged or any items
are missing, call your HP representative.

installing HP C++ for Tru64 UNIX on your system, see the HP C++ Installation Guide for Tru64 UNIX (provided

- Software Product Description
The SPD provides
an overview of the HP C++ for Tru64 UNIX product and describes the technical
environment in which the product is supported. The SPD is provided on
the Media CD-ROM.
