CHARON-AXP is Alpha Hardware virtualization software that runs on HP Proliant Windows platforms, allowing Tru64 applications to run without being modified. Almost every AlphaServer or AlphaStation that has been manufactured can be replaced with this solution.
Alpha Server emulation software may be available from other software companies as well.
HP provides the following extension licenses that allow you to transfer your Tru64 UNIX operating system and layered product licenses to servers running the emulation software environment. The QM-755AA-AA license allows you to transfer your HP Tru64 UNIX operating system license to the virtual Alpha environment. The QM-756AA-AA license allows you to transfer your HP layered product licenses to the virtual Alpha environment.
The licenses listed below must be purchased for the target platform. (Note that these licenses are also available for OpenVMS systems.)

HP Services supports Tru64 software on the CHARON-AXP emulators running on HP systems only. Existing software service contracts are valid on
supported OpenVMS VAX and OpenVMS Alpha AXP applications running on the appropriate emulator. HP fixes software problems if they are also seen in the comparable VAX or Alpha AXP
environment.
